6 months and counting!

Brooke Madeleine turned 6 months old yesterday! She is getting so big and constantly doing and trying new things.

Hi! I'm 6-months old today!
Let's see what else has Brooke been up to... She can pull herself to standing (and tries this on almost everything!). I can't wait until we move now so we have more carpeting to cushion her fall as she progresses with new skills. She "played" with her new little friend, Baby Carson, who is now 4 weeks old!

She went in sand for the first time. And tasted it for the first time (and it probably won't be the last!)

Yummy!

She had fun playing in the kitchen sink!

And finally this morning - Brooke in her highchair eating a piece of banana from her baby food net. We are finding she doesn't like/isn't ready for the taste of cantaloupe - she just gives us an icky face when we try to give it to her! I guess we will be sticking with rice cereal and bananas for now!

Brooke's Big Week!

Brooke is just having a big milestone week. First, she is now sitting up really well. She just sits up and plays and everything.

Then on Wednesday (June 6th), Brooke had her first solid food - rice cereal! See the play by play below:

"Is there a reason you put me in this chair?"

"Oh, you want me to grab and play w/ the spoon!"

"Hey, now I get it! Yum!"

Then, if all that wasn't enough excitement, she finally got the hand part down and is now officially crawling as of yesterday afternoon (June 7th). Its exciting, but I can't believe how fast our little girl is growing up already :(

Birthdays, Chicago & A Wedding

First things first...its a big birthday week. June 1st was my great friend and Brooke's Godmother, Jenne's, birthday. Then the 4th is my mother in law Bobbie's birthday, then the 5th is my grandma's and the 6th is my cousin Carrie's. So, Happy Birthday to all! On Friday, Kevin, Brooke & I drove down to the Shedd aquarium and took a walk by all of the "Cool Globes". If you haven't heard about it - it is a new exhibit where all these different artists created these giant globes to symbolize some why to help with global warming. The globes are everywhere from the Field Museum down along the lake front. It was pretty neat. After the globes, we walked down to the fountain and then over to Millennium Park where we had lunch. It was a beautiful and warm day.

Then tonight we went to a great wedding. It was for our friends Tim & Maggie who are two of the nicest people you could meet. We only attended the reception since we knew it would be a late night for Brooke and wanted her to have a normal day before her night got all screwed up. Anyway, the reception and the bride and groom were beautiful. Maggie is Polish and so there was a lot of nice Polish traditions like the bride and groom coming into the reception and having bread and shots even before they sat down! And then there was a Polish toast with vodka shots. I even did a vodka shot (and it didn't make me sick - yea!). I figured as they say "when in Rome...". Well, "when at a Polish wedding, do a vodka shot!". There were so many great things at the wedding...the dads of the bride and groom played and sang their first song that they danced to. It was a very fun night for all!
