Update on the House process

Yesterday we had an inspection of the house. It went well. Nothing major was found - so that is great. There was only one issue with the wiring in the electric panel that we are going to ask to have fixed. Just as a safety issue. Other than that, there really was nothing that was a big deal. So, we will have to negotiate getting the panel fixed, but after that its just completing the financing and waiting for the closing date. A few of you have asked where the house is. It's in Bolingbrook off of Rt 53 to Briarcliff and just a few blocks off of Briarcliff. And I finally got a good chance to take a bunch of pictures since we were there for a while yesterday. Looks like a very nice house. I hope everything goes well and you are all in the house soon!

As for the inspection, based on our experience (or lack of it!) here are a few things I would suggest checking out (which we didn't, and found out after moving in)... 1) are there screens for ALL the windows that open? 2) do ALL the electrical outlets work? (it looked like our basement was wired with plenty of outlets, but we found out there were outlets with no power running to them!) 3) do ALL the light switches work? (we have lots of light switches, but we don't know what some of them are for!) 4) If major appliances - like washing machine, dryer, etc. are included, are they powered by their own outlets? (we found out that our water softener is plugged in to an extension cord!)

I wish I would have got these comments to you sooner, but I was consumed with a problem with my e-mail.

Anyway - best of luck on getting the house, and love, love, love the family pictures! Thanks for sharing!
